Welcome to Jamie's 100 Good Wishes Quilt

To welcome and celebrate a new life there is a custom in China to make a Bai Jia Bei or "100 Good Wishes Quilt." It is a custom to invite 100 people to contribute a fabric square and a blessing, prayer, or good wish to accompany the square. The 100 squares of fabric are sewn together to create a quilt that will contain luck, energy and good wishes from all family and friends that contributed a fabric square.

This blog is set up for Jamie's Bai Jia Bei Quilt. We invite our family and friends to send a wish on a card with a 1x1" swatch attached to the card and a 8x8" prewashed fabric sqare for her quilt. This blogsite will help us to track our squares and good wishes. We plan to collect the squares, create a keepsake album of all the good wishes, and take a quilting class to learn to quilt. Finally, we will sew the quilt to welcome Jamie and to let her know how much she is loved when we bring her home.
